Every newsroom running bonded field crews has the same problem at scale: more live feeds than screens, and more screens than people to watch them. TVU Cortex is TVU's answer, a single command view that pulls live sources, past recordings and AI-surfaced content into one interface, so one operator can watch what matters instead of switching between a wall of monitors.
What it actually does
Cortex sits on top of TVU Search and adds auto-clipping and relevance scoring to every incoming feed. Instead of a producer scrubbing through hours of raw field footage looking for the moment that matters, Cortex surfaces it, ranked, alongside whatever is live right now. It's one screen showing live feeds, the archive, and what the system thinks is newsworthy, updated continuously as new material comes in.
Why this matters operationally
- Fewer people watching more feeds: a single operator can monitor a wall of live sources that would otherwise need several.
- Faster turnaround on breaking material: auto-clipping surfaces usable moments without a producer scrubbing raw footage first.
- Built on infrastructure already in the building: Cortex sits on TVU Search, so newsrooms already on TVU don't need a separate ingest pipeline.
Already carrying live traffic
This isn't a concept demo. TVU Cortex is already in production at ABC News and Nexstar's Newswire, two of the more demanding live-news operations in the US market. TVU has said custom builds for specific newsroom workflows have gone from brief to standing up in days rather than the usual roadmap quarter, which points to a platform designed to be configured around a newsroom's existing habits rather than the other way round.
Who it suits
- National and regional broadcasters running multiple simultaneous live feeds across bureaus, sports, and breaking news.
- Wire and newswire-style operations distributing footage to multiple client newsrooms and needing fast triage on incoming material.
- Newsrooms already on TVU transmission looking to extend existing infrastructure into the ingest and story-discovery layer.
Availability in South Africa
KPG has sold and supported TVU's transmission and IP contribution range locally for years. TVU Cortex is a newer addition to that stack. Get in touch and we'll follow up directly on local availability, deployment options and demo access as it firms up.
